Dr. Mario is an internationally recognized consultant and authority on learning and development, instructional design, and performance management.
Mario is a mentor to more than a thousand L and D practitioners worldwide. A testament to this is his accreditation as an expert international consultant by the United Nations.
The Certified Training Professional Course that he developed and conducts is the acknowledged “best-practice” course for all United Nations trainers in peacekeeping missions around the world.
He was President of the Philippine Society for Talent Development (PSTD) and President of the Asian Regional Training and Development Organization (ARTDO International).
Dr. del Castillo is a Senior Consultant with ITD World. His passion and biggest contribution to our field of practice is the development of the Certified Training Professional Program or CTP, a pioneering competency-based development and assessment program for L and D professionals.
Another course he developed is the Certificate in Instructional Design and Development or CIDD, a groundbreaking program that certifies participants in the competencies required in the specific field of designing and developing learning interventions.
Mario is currently researching the most recent discoveries in the exciting and emerging field of the Learning Sciences.
Academic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration (Ateneo de Manila University) and Doctor of Philosophy in Organizational Development (Southeast Asia Interdisciplinary Institute: SAIDI).
He is among the first to have adopted the method of Appreciative Inquiry – a positive strengths-based approach to strategy and change.
Professionally, Mario has worked as a teacher, a trainer, a regional marketing manager for an insurance company, a training director for a commercial bank, as well as President and CEO for a regional business process outsource company based in Hong Kong.
He was a lecturer in Leadership Dynamics and Organization Behaviour for the Herriot-Watt University Graduate School, Edinburgh, Scotland and the University of South Australia International Graduate School of Business where he taught Strategic Planning.
Aside from writing numerous presentations and articles and publishing numerous course leader guides and participant guides, he is also the author of Five Essential Practices for Mentoring Young Leaders.
Dr. del Castillo is a Certified Facilitator for DDI Interaction Management and Targeted Selection, John C Maxwell’s Developing the Leader in You, and the Kouzes-Posner Leadership Challenge Program.
